2x4 paws in Porto - part 1

Olá!

We are Mázli Don't and Princess Szofi. A few weeks ago we moved from Budapest, Hungary to Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia with our two humans, Viki and Kriszta.

This moving is the greatest adventure in our lives so far. There is something new and exciting every day. We would like to make a lot of friends here, too, so we thought we would share our experiences with you, although it is quite slow because we have to bark everything twice to our humans so as they could correctly type it.

Anyway, first things first.

As I mentioned my name is Mázli Don't. I like my firstname a lot, it means lucky in Hungarian, but I just can't understand my surname...My friends call me a real gourmet and a sportswoman. I love eating, wrestling with Szofi, rolling in the sand, playing with balls, sunbathing and chasing flies. I’m obviously an expert in gardening and interior design, too. But most of all I adore listening to my humans calling my name repeatedly. Well, sometimes they could be a bit quieter when I’m having my snack on the street.

I’m a very serious, almost 1 and a half year old dog. I can’t recall my parents but it must have been a huge party and I inherited this and that from everyone. Me and my three siblings were found beside a road. I don't really remember this period apart from being hungry. A few months later I met my humans in a pub (have I mentioned that I really enjoy a pint now and then?) and decided to move in with them. This is when I met Szofi. The very first time I bit her in the legs and the neck. I have to tell you she loved it...just didn’t know how to show it, yet. It took me 2-3 days to convince her that I’m her bestest friend in the world. Since then we go together like peas and carrots. Do you agree, Szofi? (Princess, please...)

Oh, so it's my turn for the introduction? Well, my name does not require much explanation. Princess comes from a good friend of my humans who is just astonished by my natural beauty every time we meet. And Szofi or Sophia means “wisdom”. It is not an accident.... Mázli forgot to mention that my middlename is Elegance, although I don't usually use it because I am far too modest. I know that it is surprising but I am already turning six this summer. I am the perfumer in the family, my speciality is the 3 weeks old frog carcass mixed with mud. I usually put it on my neck just behind the ears. I have to be very quick, though, because my humans unfortunatelly do not know anything at all about what a really good smell is. I adore running mostly when I have a ball to fetch. Usually I am the fastest. I hate showing off but I could recall several times when even greyhounds, who tried to take the ball from me, were put to the test. I wonder how fast Portuguese dogs are.....

Unlike Mázli, I had a family before my current humans, but they have abandoned me and put me into a shelter. That was the hardest period in my life. From the warmth of my home to a kennel shared with straydogs.....I was devastated when my humans found me in such circumstances and it took me a while to believe that I can have a family again. Well, for the time being it is working out fine even with Mázli, although I remember that leg biting story a bit differently....

Anyway, we came here together, too. One day our humans said we move to Porto. We didn't really understand what they talked about but we saw them putting our favourite food and toys into the car so we jumped in right away and put on our seatbelts.

It took 4x2 eating to get to here. And what happened during the journey? That is another story for another day....
